So proceeding slowly on any updates from either is recommended. The ML hack is not authorized or supported by Canon. Here are the list of major upgrades that are.
#Canon 7d firmware 2.03 upgrade#
It is definitely a worthy upgrade for Canons advanced APS-C DSLR. Compatible with AF assist-beam (intermittent firing) of 320EX, 270EX II and 270EX flashes. Improves maximum burst during continuous shooting. X firmware upgrade for its venerable Canon 7D. With an EOS-dedicated Speedlite attached, the Speedlite's AF-assist beam is emitted instead.
Firmware Version 2.0.0 incorporates the following improvements, new functions, and fixes. Just enter your operating system and select 'Firmware' from the menu.
#Canon 7d firmware 2.03 drivers#
The Camera was locking up, usually in play mode, and the only way to reset it was to remove the battery. The update can be found from the Canon EOS 7D Drivers and Software Page. Additionally, if you’re going to run software hacks you should start keeping a log of previous firmwares (both Canon and ML) so that should you update and have problems you can roll back to a previous working version. Since downloading the Canon 7D's new firmware a couple weeks ago, Ive been having all sorts of problems with it, especially when shooting in the water with housings. Also, I took about 2,000 photos after installing 2.03 before this problem occurred. Because the problem seemingly went away after I did this, I suspect it is related to the firmware (2.03). I had to reset the date/time after I removed the button battery and put it back in. Since ML is modifying the actual firmware, if even temporarily, it may not work (and may in fact brick the entire camera) when booting on top of a firmware that it’s not conditioned to work with yet. Of course I did reset the date/time when I first installed V2.03. Magic Lantern) you should never update the firmware on your camera.
